Regulations on Borrowing E-Readers

Approved by Library Advisory Conference on April 25, 2012

I. In order to promote digital reading and to make the best use of digital resources, users can borrow e-readers in the Library of Taipei National University of the Arts (the Library). The Regulations on Borrowing E-Readers in Taipei National University of the Arts (the Regulations) are made to effectively regulate related equipment.
II. Subject: Full-time faculty and students of TNUA.
III. Loan Periods and Borrowing Limits:
1. One day at a time. An appointment request is acceptable, but not the renewal procedure.
2. A patron can only borrow one e-reader at a time, and he/she can not propose another loan or make another appointment request again until the previously borrowed e-reader has been returned.
IV. Borrowing and Returns:
1. YouUsers must go through a loaning procedure with your faculty or student I.D. cards at the circulation desk in the Library, and the procedure will be taken again when you return the e-reader .
2. When borrowing the e-reader, you must check its function and report any problem right away. Once you leave the circulation desk, it is your responsibility for any damage.
3. Upon returning, the Librarian will check the function of the e-reader with you before the returning procedure is completed. If there is any private file in the e-reader after returning, we have the right to delete it .
4. The e-reader can not be dropped in a book drop. If the e-reader is damaged because of this, you will have to compensate for the e-reader in accordance with Item Seven of the Regulations.
V. Keeping and Usage:
1. YouUsers must do your best to keep the e-readers safe from stains and damage and keep them away from any environment that is harmful for the e-reader .
2. YouUsers are not allowed to disassemble the e-reader (including accessory) and break the code of its software, nor can they change the original setting of the system.
VI. Overdue Fines: YouUsers must return the e-readers before the day is due. Those who fail to obey the rule will be revoked from borrowing books and be fined NTD100 per day. The maximum fine is NTD5,000. YouUsers are not allowed to borrow e-readers and books again until the fine is paid off.
VII. Damage, Lost and Compensation
1. YouUsers should report to the Library and return the e-reader once it is out of order. If there is any damage or stain due to negligence during the circulation period, youusers will have to compensate for it.
2. If there is any lost or irretrievable damage to the e-reader (including its main part, accessory and system), youusers should purchase a new one with the same brand and with the same or better function.
3. If youusers do not return the e-reader or pay for compensation deliberately, the Library will resort to legal measures if necessary.
VIII. Notes:
1. The Library has the right to inform youusers to return the e-reader in advance when necessary. UsersYou must cooperate without any objection. If you fail to do so will be punished with Item Six of the Regulations.
2. Please respect intellectual property rights, and use e-readers must obey copyright laws and other legal regulations. If you do not abide by the law, resulting in breached the laws and regulations , should bear legal responsibility.
3. If the Regulations are not completely matters concerned, they will be processed in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
IX. The Regulations have been approved by Library Advisory Conference. Any revision to the Regulations will require the same approval procedure.
